Daniel Henshaw is an East Vancouver Photographer and Motion Picture Camera Operator. Born in Montreal, Daniel graduated from Concordia University, with a BFA. From there Daniel moved to Toronto where he began his film career as a member of the International Alliance of Theatre and Screen Employees Union (IATSE).
Daniel loves photography and prefers to avoid labels when it comes to describing himself and his approach to photography. “I am inspired by photographers like Steve McCurry and Albert Watson, and cinematographers like Phil Linzey and Stephan Czapsky. A camera is a camera and there are many different kinds of photography". He feels a good photographer should know how to use a camera effectively under any circumstances be it cinematography, photojournalism, wedding, architectural, commercial, corporate, travel or portrait photography. Daniel believes that, "the photographer's job is to honour a particular moment in time by translating that moment into a memorable image.”
Daniel is also as passionate about travel as he is about photography and has had two independent solo exhibitions of travel photography: "From Asia with Love" (Fall 2004); and more recently, "180 Days in Nepal" (Spring 2007). Besides being a photo exhibition "180 Days in Nepal - Lily-Muna's Journey" is also a fundraiser for children in Nepal. This was the trip that Daniel and his wife, Brenda Kyle, took to Nepal to adopt their daughter, Lily-Muna, in 2005 - 2006. "It was the most incredible experience - to go and live in the country where our little girl was born - it was amazing!".
